Services: Chance 2 Grow funds a wide variety of recreational and educational opportunities for children. Activities eligible for funding include: music/instrument lessons, music or art or drama day camps, art classes and supplies, hockey (Southern Manitoba), Girl Guides/Boy Scouts, swimming lessons, figure skating lessons, soccer, gymnastics, baseball, ringette, theatre classes, martial arts, dance classes (other activities will be considered upon application).
Chance 2 Camp funds allow CFSCMF to award a max. of $400.00 per child so children who, because of economic circumstances in their families, would not otherwise have the opportunity for a summer camp experience.
Chance 2 Play, funded by NHL player Arron Asham's annual Charity Golf Tournament, raises money that goes towards awarding children registration, equipment or transportation for that season's hockey program for children who, because of economic circumstances in their families, would not otherwise be able to participate.
Chance 2 Learn, provides financial assistance to former and current youth in care of Child & Family with various post-secondary education expenses.
Eligibility: Chance 2 Grow Eligibility: Children and youth from 5-17 years old who reside in the Central Region of MB and who meet the qualification of financial need (based on household size and total family income).
Chance 2 Camp Eligibility: Children and youth from 6-17 years of age who reside in the Central Region of MB and who meet the qualification of financial need (based on household size and total family income).
Chance 2 Play Eligibility: Children and youth up to 18 years of age from the central plains minor hockey who meet the qualification of financial need (total family household size paired with max. allowed total family income - can be found online).
Chance 2 Learn Eligibility: Verification of registration or acceptance at an accredited educational institution, school, technical college or university; scholastic performance; letters of reference (one from a former teacher); a written response to the question "Why should I be considered for this award?". Parental Contribution information for Chance 2 Grow depends on registration,equipment and supplies total and is available through their offices or on the application.
Cost: Chance 2 Camp and Chance 2 Play: Parental Contribution: 1st child: $20.00, every child after that: $15.00. with a max. parental contribution of $50.00.

Services: Fort la Reine Museum, Pioneer Village and Tourist Bureau Inc. offers a unique dedication to preserving the heritage of the Canadian Prairies and the history of the City and Municipality of Portage la Prairie. Has over 25 different building displaying thousands of individual artifacts including indigenous artifacts and more modern pieces such as farm equipment and military artifacts from the 20th Century. Services: The Portage Regional Recreation Authority Inc. (PRRA) is a not-for-profit corporation responsible for the provision of recreation and leisure facilities and programs in Portage la Prairie region. The Stride Place is a PRRA operated facility featuring Manitoba's largest indoor wave pool, fitness centre, two NHL sized arenas, and a walking track.
The Shindleman Aquatic Centre offers 6-25 metre swim lanes, lazy river, a tots pool area, as wellas zero beach and ramp entry. There is a 212 ft water slide and a 14 person whirlpool. Year round public swim, swim lessons, lap swim, and pool rentals are available.
The Stride Place offers a two lane, 210 meter walking track along the upper level of the Stride Arena. Occasionally, the walking track is closed due to special events; information can be found by contacting the Stride Place or visiting the Centre's website.
The Stride Place Viterra Fitness Centre offers access to exercise equipment, fitness classes and personal trainer opportunities. Active Passes provide access to the Viterra Fitness Centre, Shindleman Aquatic Centre, Walking Track and fitness class (annual membership excludes lessons and specialty fitness programs).
The Stride Arena features a 85'x200' NHL ice pad with seats, concourse, entertainment suites, 2-lane walking track, raised media and sound rooms, multipurpose room, concessions, bar services, and washrooms; the arena is home to the Portage Terriers.
The Portage Mutual Arena features a 85'x200' NHL ice pad with seats, standing room, sound system, 4 standard size dressing rooms and washrooms. The 2 ice services offer public skating, recreational clubs and team use and rental opportunities.
The Stride Place offers spaces that can be used for meeting rooms, trade shows, and conventions. The PRRA hosts a summer Children's Day Camp Program, hosted within the Stride Place.
Eligibility: Anyone - all ages. Youth Active Pass holders (13-16 years old) must complete a gym orientation program prior to using the fitness centre. Seniors are defined as those who have reached their 55th birthday.
Annual Membership Active Passes makes members eligible to use the fitness centre, aquatic centre, and walking track. Those who do not have an Annual Membership, can still use facilities by paying daily, weekly, monthly or tri-monthly.
Walking Track Eligibility: Walking Track is restricted access, access is open to Walking Track members, Active Pass Holders and those patrons who have purchased a daily admission.

Services: Housed within the William Glesby Centre (West Entrance), the Portage and District Arts Centre features an art gallery (new exhibit or installation every few months and showcases works from across Canada), gift shop (with art supplies, giftware from local and regional artists and a 10% discount to members), dance studio (with wooden spring flooring and dedicated washrooms), pottery studio (with 9 pottery wheels and an electric kiln), classroom (used for classes and workshops), and a boardroom gallery.
The Dance Program offers dance classes, typically including 24 classes, finishing with a spring recital. Dance classes that have been offered include contemporary, Ukrainian, tap, jazz, ballet, cheer and hip hop.
Classes and Workshops offer various art related classes and workshops for youth and adults. Classes include pottery, mixed media, drawing, dance, quilting and fitness. Workshops include stained glass, painting techniques, sculpture and more.
Special Events include the PDAC Reel Event, independent films shown at the Cinema Centre Theatre Oct through April; Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra performance in December, Celebration of the Arts, Gala Dinner and Art Auction in May; Artful Garden Tour in mid July.
The ArtsSmarts Program is run through the Portage & District Arts Centre, it brings artists, youth and communities together through expressive, visual and performing arts. ArtsSmarts grants offer the opportunity to develop skills, capacity, and confidence in using an art form as a tool for exploration and learning. Disciplines have included: art, writing/illustrating, fitness, science, fiber arts, drama, leatherwork, multi-media, choral work, theory & history, social studies, science, math, music, composition (photography), film making, design/construction and community projects. Services: The Portage la Prairie Regional Library offers a variety of programs that are for all age groups and are free to access. Inter-Library Loans (ILL) is a service where Library members can borrow material from another library, within Manitoba or outside of the province. Computer services include: two Children's computers with pre-loaded children's games; public WiFi access; Public computer workstations with Microsoft Office software, CD or USB memory stick access, printing (for a small fee); laptop connections. A Multi-Purpose Room is available for rent/public use if the library does not require the space (the space holds up to a maximum of 50 people). Library Home Service, run by volunteers, enables individuals unable to visit the library to borrow physical reading materials. A Microfilm Reader/Scanner is available and attached to a laser printer; the reader is able to project microfiche and 16 to 35mm microfilm. Photocopying and printing is available in black and white (for a small fee) and is only available from the library's public computers. E-Books and E-Magazines are available through eLibraries Manitoba and RBdigital, but these materials are only accessible to Portage la Prairie Regional Library members. CELA and NNELS services are available for Portage la Prairie Regional Library members with diagnosed visual impairments. The library also has access to EBSCOhost databases, the Ancestry database, and additional websites of interest.
Eligibility: Anyone - all ages. Membership Application Requirement: two pieces of identification with the individual's current name and address, those under the age of 18 must have their card signed by a parent/guardian. Membership types: resident, non-resident, temporary and block. Access to children's computers, wireless access and laptop access is available without charge, membership or time limit. The Multi-Purpose Room is available to groups whose aims and goals are in harmony with the library's, and is to be used for meetings, seminars and displays unless approval for any other activity is given. Library Home Services is free but limited to the residents of the City of Portage la Prairie and users must abide by the borrowing policies of the library. Users of Microfilm Reader/Public Computers: Members must present their membership card or photo ID for access, non-members will be signed on using the library's non-membership card. There is no charge for this service.

Membership Fees: Non-Resident: $20.00 single or $45.00 family (membership expires one year from date of purchase). Temporary: $15.00 deposit, of which $10.00 may be refunded at the termination of the membership. Block: for resident organizations and teachers who teach within the boundaries of the funding municipalities, $60.00 annual fee for organizations and teachers teaching outside these boundaries.
Overdue Charges: All Adult and Young Adult materials: $0.25 cents/day, lost/damaged items are the patron's responsibility (reimbursement is expected).
Multi-Purpose Room Rental: Individuals and organizations may be charged a rental fee to use the Multi-Purpose Room. Departments and committees of sponsoring municipal governments to the Library, all non-profit organizations and groups, or individuals pursuing a non-commercial activity may be exempt from this rental fee unless they are hosting an event that requires paid entrance by attendees.

Splash Island outdoor water park features aesthetic fountains and mini geysers, bubbler bench, three 25 meter swimming lanes, a lazy river, non-slip decking and a zero depth beach-like entry. This facility is seasonal and only operates in the summer (exact dates can be found by contacting the stride place or Splash Island or visiting their stride place/Splash Island website. Swim lessons, public swim and pool rentals are available.
Eligibility: Anyone - all ages. Children 10 years & under must be accompanied by an adult. All children 8 years & under must remain within arms reach of a parent or guardian at all times. Swimmers must be a min. of 4 feet in height to slide down the Splash Attack or Funnel Tunnel.
