Services: Chance 2 Grow funds a wide variety of recreational and educational opportunities for children. Activities eligible for funding include: music/instrument lessons, music or art or drama day camps, art classes and supplies, hockey (Southern Manitoba), Girl Guides/Boy Scouts, swimming lessons, figure skating lessons, soccer, gymnastics, baseball, ringette, theatre classes, martial arts, dance classes (other activities will be considered upon application).
Chance 2 Camp funds allow CFSCMF to award a max. of $400.00 per child so children who, because of economic circumstances in their families, would not otherwise have the opportunity for a summer camp experience.
Chance 2 Play, funded by NHL player Arron Asham's annual Charity Golf Tournament, raises money that goes towards awarding children registration, equipment or transportation for that season's hockey program for children who, because of economic circumstances in their families, would not otherwise be able to participate.
Chance 2 Learn, provides financial assistance to former and current youth in care of Child & Family with various post-secondary education expenses.
Eligibility: Chance 2 Grow Eligibility: Children and youth from 5-17 years old who reside in the Central Region of MB and who meet the qualification of financial need (based on household size and total family income).
Chance 2 Camp Eligibility: Children and youth from 6-17 years of age who reside in the Central Region of MB and who meet the qualification of financial need (based on household size and total family income).
Chance 2 Play Eligibility: Children and youth up to 18 years of age from the central plains minor hockey who meet the qualification of financial need (total family household size paired with max. allowed total family income - can be found online).
Chance 2 Learn Eligibility: Verification of registration or acceptance at an accredited educational institution, school, technical college or university; scholastic performance; letters of reference (one from a former teacher); a written response to the question "Why should I be considered for this award?". Parental Contribution information for Chance 2 Grow depends on registration,equipment and supplies total and is available through their offices or on the application.
Cost: Chance 2 Camp and Chance 2 Play: Parental Contribution: 1st child: $20.00, every child after that: $15.00. with a max. parental contribution of $50.00.
